Solid state Drive is a big revolution for data storage solution with high write and read speed. OCZ once again introduced OCZ vertex product as update from previous version for this year’s line-up. OCZ still defend their product’s shape and design, SSD sized 25” and slim shape become certain advantage. Black color choice made this SSD seems attractive.
OCZ Vertex 111 Max IOPS 240GB with SATA III interface gives better write and read compared than previous interface. Besides, sandforce processor series SF-2081 usage gives more performance. Series SF-2000 is able to give write and read performance in parallel so it reached 500MB/s with SATA III interface.
OCZ Vertex 111 Max IOPS has a bit different with ordinary OCZ Vertex III. In version Max IOPS, OCZ uses eight chip NAND Flash sized 32 nm in upper and lower sides, so, there are total 16 chips. While ordinary Vertex III, OCZ uses NAND Flash sized 25 nm. Each NAND Flash chip stored about 16 GB data with total 256 GB. After formatting, SSD would be read 223 GB in your windows, it happens because of Over-Provisioning.
Over-provisioning is a technique to give more capacity which couldn’t be accessed by user. This extra capacity has advantage to give more speed to IOPS writing and better reliability to SSD. This extra capacity can also be used to change broken memory block to keep performance produced by SSD. OCZ claimed this SSD is able to produce write speed 5000MB/s and read speed 550MB/s. To prove this claim, although in read speed didn’t reach 5000MB/s because of certain factor, this result still shows that SATA III interface using the latest SandForce is able to give good speed.
In its selling package, OCZ gives 3.5” bracket so you can use this SSD in case which didn’t have special weight 2.5”, a sticker is also given as additional sweet decoration you can use on your case. Besides, you can also enjoy full support from OCZ through OCZ Toolbox application downloaded from OCZ official site. This application can be used to monitor SSD, doing Secure Erase to erase the unused data and firmware update used in this SSD. Gadgets Update Daily.
