Motorola Xoom

Motorola Xoom is the first tablet uses the latest operating system Android 3 ‘Honeycomb’ developed for PC Tablet. Previous Android version is developed only for cell phone, which caused many shortages when they are installed in PC tablet, so some maintenance in Honeycomb is so important.

Its screen is conformed better, by menu designed for larger screen and also provides rotating moving system between open applications with only one button touch. Android marketplace has also been upgraded, but since Honeycomb has not been appeared for long, there are not many tablet application to be downloaded. One example of this new application is the one which directed for YouTube, which used wide screen and extra processing power from tablet well, displaying screen arrangement full with video which can be navigated by users.

Other superb application which has been provided is news application from CNN, Google Maps and Google Calender. Its camera and web-browser have been tweaked in such way so it will conform to be used in tablet. A little bit disturbance here, many applications which just larger version from Android smartphone. Example, official application for Twitter and Facebook are not updated yet for Honeycomb.

Xoom widescreen is amazing and ideal to watch movie or television. Its better resolution means, everything seems sharp and bright, made the text easier to be read, so surfing web will become interesting experience.

Unfortunately, its screen viewpoint is less comfortable and reflective, so it’s often when the brightness is raised fully, reflection in screen damaged its display experience.

By only 730g weight, Xoom can be said heavy for tablet (iPad 2 weighed 610g only), make it less comfortable to be grabbed in long term. Its design is quite charming with metal final touch in rear and its rim which made it seems elegant.
