Asus presented one other variance from their special cooler system, DirectCU. If DirectCU cooler generally uses big fan and heatsink with heatpipe, Asus can also make passive cooler variance without fan, just like in this Asus EN GTS 450 DirectCU. Passive cooler System of DirectCU uses a big heatsink with two heatpipes. Although it doesn’t use fan, this cooler system is still be able to work well in optimum air flow condition.
In addition of using passive cooler, this graphic card also has lower power consumption. You won’t find PCI-Express 6-pin power port just like provided by other GeForce GTS 450 graphic card, so, there’s less power needed. However, as its consequence, this graphic card has lower speed. If GeForce GTS 450 has 783 MHz speed standard, this Asus-produced graphic card only has 595 MHz speed. Its memory just also uses GDDR3 with 1600 MHz speed.
By such condition, it’s common if the graphic card has less performance compared with other GTS 450. You will get graphic card with much more saver power consumption. The cooler is surely able to work well, although its operational temperature in full-load is quite high.
